Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of the arts, science, scholarship and wisdom. She holds a Vina (an instrument similar to a sitar), a rosary, and a book. Her names means "the flowing one." She is called the giver of essence, the mistress of speech, and the supreme knowledge. She is the wife of Brahma, and is thus the co-creator of the Universe. She is accompanied by a swan, the vehicle of Brahma who stands for discrimination and wisdom.
