Mondrian's painting Composition with large red plane, yellow, black, grey and blue (1921) has been adapted to the surface of a ceramic vase in which one can display a beautiful flower bouquet. The vase is an round shape with details on all sides. We see the rhythmic repetition of the square and rectangle filled with primary colors blue, yellow, and red, and black and grey.

This composition is one of the principal works of what Mondrian referred to as Neoplasticism. In 1920, Mondrian published 'Le Néo-plasticisme', a booklet in which he attempted to provide further theoretic grounding for his ideas. He elaborated on his prior publications in the renowned magazine 'De Stijl' about his 'new imaging' as he denoted his work. 'Composition with a large red plane […]' still has a relatively high number of colored planes. Over the years, these would disappear as he searched for the right rhythm and perfect balance.

The famous art masterpieces are selected for their visual beauty and then applied to a special shaped vase design with a cut edge to enhance a design element from the painting.
