Glass half dome paperweight with drawing by Albrecht Durer of Two Hands Praying. It is a naturalistic study of an a gesture sacred to the Christian faith, with two hands raised up, palms pressed together asking for consolation, forgiveness, assistance and inspiration. At the wrist of these hands, we see the turned back sleeves of a penitent person, an apostle, in a moment of intimate communication with God.

This would make an appreciative gift for someone in time of need, your priest or nun, or to commemorate a holy communion.

As the son of a Nuremberg goldsmith, Durer has mastered art and craft techniques at an early age. In 1490 the young artist set out on a long journey. He stayed in Basel and carried out book illustration assignments and mastered the techniques of copper engraving and etching. Upon his return he set up his own atelier. His death in 1528 marked the end of a very productive life during which he was acknowledged as the greatest German artist of his time.
