Ears With Knife Men Listening on Ear Lobe Statue by Hieronymus Bosch, Assorted Sizes
PN# JB23THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS
Two enormous ears, held together by an arrow and a knife jammed in between. Is there an allegorical medieval symbolism behind this? Or is this the horrible torture one might expect in hell? Is the monogram on the knife an M or the B of Bosch? We may never know what Hieronymus Bosch --had between his ears -- when he was painting these ears in The Garden of Earthly Delights.
In this painting, Hieronymus Bosch shows us how we mortal souls, arisen from earthly paradise, are on our way to the atrocious ordeals of hell via our unchaste lives on earth. The dark painting on the closed panels shows the Creation, surrounded by water, in accordance with medieval traditions.
This statue is adapted from the figure in his painting into a 3D sculpture, Ears With Knife. Made from collectible quality resin with hand-painted color details. Part of the Parastone Museum Collection. Comes with a color description card.
